This
project commenced its Activities in M.P. in 1994-95, which
was supported by the Denmark Govt. under the DANIDA (Danish
International Development Assistance) scheme. MAPWA is
a skill oriented agriculture training and extension project
for small and marginal farm women who work in their farm.
During the phase-I the project, eight districts were covered
(one district is now in Chhattisgarh), to bring in a qualitative
improvement in farm women extension.
Objective:
The development objective were divided in two phases
1. Phase 1: To improve
the productivity of small and marginal farmers.The beneficiaries
being the women farmers.
2. Phase 2: This
phase was started in Feb 2002 and it would extend upto
Jan. 2007 with the objective to sustainable increase in
the welfare of small and marginal farmer households, in
M.P. The main focus of this phase is to integrate the
MAPWA approach into the GES (General Extension System)
of agriculture.
Area
of Operation:

Phase
1: The
phase 1 of the project covered 8 districts, i.e. Jabalpur,
Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Mandla, Rewa, Shahdol, Raisen
and Bilaspur (now in Chhattisgarh).
- Phase
2: The
phase 2 of the project will be covering 6 new districts
viz. Katni, Dindori, Umaria, Seoni, Balaghat and Satna
along with the previous seven districts and a new
district “Anooppur” was carved out of
Shahdol district (total 14 districts).

based Training program |
These
trainings were organized for women for three days
duration. Rs 2625/- is provided for demonstration,
training arrangements etc. till Sept.2004. Based
on the recommendations of the Joint Review Mission-June
2004, these trainings will be organized for 2
days with the norm of Rs.2300/- from Oct. 2004

Follow
up visit. |
It
consist of 4 days, to provide further guidance
& support to the trained farm women in the
adoption of skills learnt during the village based
trainings.

Farm
women conferences. |
Farm
women conferences are organized :
o To
know the status of the group formation and to
develop the strategy for the same.
o
To inform
the trained and non-trained farm women regarding
the importance of group formation.
o A
forum to share success and failures pertaining
to improved agricultural technologies, how to
sought out agricultural problems in field. |

Pre-seasonal
training |
To
refresh the farm women regarding the critical
agricultural skills for the ensuing cropping season. |

Crop Demonstration/ method demonstration. |
To motivate the farm women to adopt systematically
the low cost technologies learnt in the project. |

Exposure visit |
It
consists of inter-block and inter-district exposure
visits, to share the experiences and knowledge
amongst different group members within and outside
the block/district.

Special
Trainings. |
To
help in the capacity building of the farm women
and impart intensive training for income generating activities / skills like
vegetable cultivation, animal husbandry, poultry
farming etc.

Link
worker training |
To
train the resource person of the village who is
chairperson of the women's self help group and
is the friend to fellow farm women. |

MAPWA
Samuha (Self Help Groups) |
Groups are being formed, for the empowerment of the farm women and
their active role in the agricultural process
the women. These groups come together and initiate
income generating activities related to agriculture
and allied activities. |
